Free Phone Number Trace - Is it Possible?

Does your caller id ever show a phone number that you don't recognize? Sure it does, it happens to all of us. In this article I'm going to show you an easy method of doing a phone number trace that you may of never thought of and then I'll show you another method if the first doesnt work.

so your phone just rang and you don't recognize the number so you don't answer it. Your first hunch is oh well must of been a wrong number, but then you start seeing the same number over and over again.

I'm like you I hate being hassled by telemarketers, especially the new scams around where you've won a free trip, or a great offer to lower your credit card interest rate ( this one I love), so I never pick up my phone if it's a number that is completely foreign to me, I figure if it's important the person will leave me a message, right?

One evening my curiosity got the better of me, when the same number called again without leaving a message. I wanted to find out who was calling me. I took down the number off my caller id and entered it into my favorite search engine, google, and low and behold all sorts of results came up from other people wondering the exact same thing as me, "Who is calling me!"

I found out quickly from a few of the results that I had viewed that the number calling me was a company offering me a free all inclusive Caribbean vacation (scam trying to defraud me of money). The next time that they called, I answered and told them I wasn't interested and to put me on their do not call list.

So I didn't quite find out exactly who the company was, but I did find out that it wasn't any one important that I wanted to talk to.

But what if the big G doesn't yield any results for you? What do you do them?

Alternative Method

If you can't find any information doing a phone number trace from entering the number into your favorite search engine, you may want to try using reverse phone number lookup service. These websites are great, all you have to do is enter the 10 digit phone number into their search box and click search. The website does all the work for you giving you any available details on the number.

I will warn you, that their are free services available that don't have a very extensive database and there are alternatives that you pay for that will provide almost anything you can think of about that phone number and who it is registered to. The paid sites usually can give info like, who owns the number, the billing address for the number, any previous owners of the number, and other info such as this.
